Marquita S. Gipson is the Founder and Executive Director of Girls that Glitter Inc., a mentoring organization for girls and young ladies ages 7-21. Girls that Glitter Inc. is dedicated to assisting young ladies in growing confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills by engaging in the 5 Pillars. Those Pillars include engaging in workshops, life skills, and mentorship that focus on empowerment, self-confidence, leadership/relationship building, and community involvement.
Marquita founded Girls that Glitter Inc. in 2018 with a vision to empower young ladies to create opportunities for life success by contributing to the community as young leaders guided by mentors dedicated to expanding their horizons. The power of Girls that Glitter comes from Marquita’s heart and love for the mentors she had as a young girl.
Marquita was born and raised in Pontiac, MI. She graduated from Lane College with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 2010. Received her Master’s in Education of School Guidance Counseling in 2013 and pursued a License in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Freed Hardeman in 2017. While at Freed Hardeman University, she was inducted as a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. Marquita holds a license as a Licensed Professional Counselor, in the state of Tennessee.
Marquita has the heart and passion for working with children and families and has been dedicated to the work of her full-time career as a Mental Health Professional for over a decade.
Marquita is married to her college sweetheart and is a mother of 1 son. Marquita enjoys attending church, Happy Planning, and spending time with her family and friends in her spare time.
After years of serving, mentoring, and impacting girls' lives through the Girls that Glitter Inc.’s mission, the organization is fully becoming a (C)(3) with great support from her community, family, and friends.
